Ubo Pod was born out of my frustration with the lack of a polished platform for building Raspberry Pi-based systems that can be easily customized and adapted to my various personal self-hosted projects. As a hardware engineer, I challenged myself to create a polished, consumer-grade quality, modular, and customizable, and open source platform that can help other developers accelerate their project builds and easily deploy apps on it while giving it their own personal touch. The design intention is to put developers and their application end-user experience at the center of the design. With the emergence of various AI applications, the need for private, sandboxed, and secure environments for deploying such applications is felt more than ever. I believe the only way to address these concerns is through a fully open source design that processes user data on device (locally) in a provably secure and private fashion.
