Engineers Without Borders at UWM installs water systems for mountain communities in Guatemala and learns about other challenges facing the people while they work with the residents. People living without a functioning electrical grid are limited in their activities by daylight and travel to another town weekly to charge batteries. The We Share Solar Suitcase was developed for off-grid schools in Africa and seemed like a promising solution to adopt for Guatemala. This year's project will serve the 5th village with an EnQuest-built renewable power station and it includes improvements based on the prior projects. The biomedical project was inspired by the desire to apply problem-solving skills to improving health and safety.
