Sport-graf

Maker: IIS Edoardo Amaldi Roma
Sport-graf is a device capable of detecting the electrical activity of the muscle through the application of three electrodes on the skin, treated with the Arduino UNO board and a wave amplifier.
The device consists of a breadboard housing the components of the power supply and amplification circuits. The amplifier is powered, through a dual generator, by a lithium ion battery.
The chip amplifies the signal (INA128P) coming from the three electrodes and supplies an analog output read by the analog port of the Arduino, which, thanks to the serial plotter, shows a graph with the trend of the contraction and distension activity of the muscle fibres.
Life MUssel Sustainable production (re)cyCLES – Life MUSCLES

The LIFE MUSCLES project aims at reducing the impact linked to the use of Polypropylene (PP) socks for mussel farming, promoting and creating an more sustainable mussel production value chain that minimise the dispersion of PP socks in the marine environment, through:
• the transition to a circular economic model within the mussel production sector in the targeted areas through the recovery and recycling of polypropylene (PP) socks used for mussels farming by providing the italian mussel farmers with a mobile Recycling Plant (300 kg/day) able to operate directly at mussel farms facilities;
• the increase in sustainability of the mussel farming sector in the targeted areas by promoting both the replacement of PP socks with ones made of biodegradable and compostable biopolymer (BP) and validating the feasibility of mechanical and organic recycling of biopolymeric (BP) socks.
• the awareness raising of key different target groups and stakeholders such as farmers, distributors and consumers, on the sustainability of mussel production sector;
• Definition and transfer of good practices to reduce the dispersion/abandonment of PP socks at sea.

Our primary goal is to allow people to work out daily whenever and wherever they want, for the first time combining the world of fitness with that of fun and entertainment. The product consists of two smart gym dumbbells that interface with a videogame, in which there is a virtual avatar that has to be kept healthy and that can customized by the user through the execution of exercises and special daily missions.

Polyter® is a revolutionary agricultural project that addresses global challenges related to pollution, energy costs, food security, global warming, and water scarcity. Its main objective is water conservation, a precious and limited resource often wasted in large quantities, especially in the agricultural sector.
Polyter® is a unique fertilizing hydro-retainer that comes in the form of granules. These granules have an extraordinary capacity to absorb water from 160 to 300 times their dry weight, functioning as a water reservoir for plants. Moreover, Polyter® acts as a permanent dispenser of water and fertilizers to meet the plants' needs, providing them with everything they require to grow and develop optimally.
What makes Polyter® truly exceptional is its ability to lower soil temperature, reducing plant stress. It works as a kind of refrigerated dispenser, ensuring optimal root, vegetative, fruit, and flower development. Balanced fertilizers specifically designed to nourish root development are incorporated within Polyter®, which is an essential element for plant growth. Polyter® seamlessly integrates with the roots, becoming an integral and optimal part of the plant.
The versatility of Polyter® is one of its main strengths. It can be used in all types of crops and on all types of soil, allowing for broad applicability in both agricultural and horticultural contexts. Worldwide, agronomists, researchers, and inventors have been searching for hidden freshwater sources, but current methodologies fail to address the massive water waste in agriculture. Polyter® represents a breakthrough in this direction.
The benefits of Polyter® are manifold. Firstly, it enables water savings of at least 50% to 80%, ensuring more efficient water resource management. Additionally, it reduces fertilizer consumption by 30% to 50%, optimizing yield, quality, and production sustainability. Polyter® also acts as a growth activator, advancing cultivation cycles and increasing root mass by 3 to 5 times. This translates into higher agricultural productivity, ranging from 30% to 100% depending on the crop type.
Another important aspect is that Polyter® is completely biodegradable in the soil, with a degradation period ranging from 3 to 5 years, depending on the number of bacteria present in the soil. This further enhances Polyter®'s sustainability and environmental impact.
In addition to water savings and improved crop yields, Polyter® plays a fundamental role in soil regeneration. It acts as a synthetic "earthworm," aerating, stabilizing, and binding the soil. Furthermore, it contributes to humus restructuring and reduces losses from evaporation and leaching. This promotes soil health and preserves long-term fertility.
Safety is a top priority for Polyter®. It leaves no residues in the soil or in fruit and vegetable crops, as confirmed by accredited analyses. This aspect is crucial to ensure the quality and safety of food produced using Polyter®.

EGO – Trasporti Carbon Neutral

EGO is a system composed of a CO2 sensor, position sensors, telemetry mounted on board the vehicle and a cloud platform that collects miles of real data from the vehicles. AI algorithms suggest optimized routes and driving behaviors aimed at reducing the CO2 produced. EGO allows its complete compensation of the remaining CO2, purchasing carbon credits that will be used by Treebu for the planting of paulownia in the territories where the transport company operates. The compensation is certified by EGO to the transport company which can highlight it with its customers and effectively increase CSR.
Cirillo – MultiFactotum Robot

Thanks to the use of LLMs (starting with the most famous chatGPT), the idea was to create a robot that can be programmed in natural language even by elderly people who are unfamiliar with technology. Moreover, the robot can monitor the house by walking around the rooms and alerting the homeowner in case of need.
In short, the first 'companion' robot made from inexpensive components.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer worldwide. Early diagnosis is crucial to improve management and provide survival benefits to patients with HCC.
We designed a Machine Learning (ML) and a Deep Learning (DL) for nuclei classification by using features extracted by immunofluorescence images.
We demonstrated the ability of the proposed models to classify liver nuclei segmented by immunofluorescence images, thus suggesting a potential useful tool for pathologists in HCC diagnosis.

Apache, il Drone FPV Cinematico

Food Pairing

Food pairing is a method of identifying which foods go well together. Thanks to the recent availability on the internet of a large number of recipes and databases on the chemical compounds, it is possible to propose combinations based on modern data science techniques which analyze the food graph possibly enriched by the graph of their chemical components. The project proposes to investigate this graph, to visualize it in an attractive way and to experiment during the maker faire with some combinations in order to collect visitor feedback
World skate at Maker Faire 2023

World Skate is the global governing organization for roller sports. Always very close to innovation, world skate continuously renews the areas of interest of the sports it governs. Innovation does not only concern the already vast world of wheels but also that of multimedia competition products (esports) in which world skate is among the proudest supporters. Along with this, however, world skate promotes a combination of real sports and digital sports which is always present at its events. Both the strictly digital and traditional parts will be present at the Maker faire venue. National and international athletes will in fact perform on the Half pipe which makes up the proposal together with 8 other stands.
Opening Technologies for Smart Communities

WeMake, fablab and makerspace in Milan, presents projects developed with different technologies and different impacts but share the same goal: to provide communities with tools and knowledge useful for the development of digital objects and services for the common good.
Specifically, WeMake was involved in research and development in the IoT projects:
- in the agricultural sector we have developed modules to save water and other resources;
- in the civil field we tested a monitoring system of a distributed network through LoRa modules;
- in the social field we have developed a wearable that helps connecting people in real life through simple non verbal communication defined by personal preferences and activities.
At Maker Faire 2023 WeMake will present three physical prototypes.
Sweeties handmade

My greedy boxes are born from handcrafted containers of different shapes and reuse, like jars of ricotta that become cupcakes.
I distort felt and crepla by combining other raw materials with these fabrics making them unrecognizable for the use for which they were originally created.
I bake Charlotte (sewn biscuits covered with glass sand) and Sacher (brown fommy soaked in glaze).
I reproduce pastry chefs' cake design (ruffle and drip cake) using the crepla (reproduces sugar paste) and, with dies, I create borders and decorations to enrich tiered cakes.

NECTAR is an innovative project aiming to create the first agrifood metaverse, providing an immersive experience in the realm of nutrition and healthy, sustainable eating. This environment combines cutting-edge technologies to offer users a unique experience that merges education, experimentation, and innovation.
The main components of the project are blockchain-tracked products and metabolic avatars. The blockchain aspect includes a wide range of agri-food products from select Italian companies, allowing users to interact with them in an immersive experience. They can learn about the products' origins, nutritional characteristics, and make informed choices. Users can also connect with the producing companies, gaining insights into their sustainable production practices and the food supply chain.
The metabolic avatar is a personalized digital representation of an individual's metabolism, created using information from wearable devices such as smart bands and impedance scales. It enables real-time and remote monitoring of physiological parameters, providing data used to deliver a customized quality index for food choices based on simulated metabolic effects. The avatar tracks user metabolism levels over time, offering a comprehensive view of metabolic variations and responses to consumed foods and supplements.
The personalized metabolic avatar (PMA) employs a deep learning GRU (gated recurrent unit) model trained to predict weight changes, blood glucose, and other physiological variables tailored to macronutrient composition and daily energy balance. The model allows simulations and evaluations of dietary plans, facilitating the definition of customized goals for achieving ideal weight.
NECTAR's platform integrates metabolic and sensory avatars, blockchain, and virtual reality technologies to create a metaverse dedicated to agrifood. Avatars interact with blockchain-tracked products, providing consumers with detailed information on the origin, quality, and sustainability of food products. By combining sensory and metabolic analyses with blockchain, NECTAR ensures transparency, sustainability, and food safety, meeting the needs of consumers, institutions, and companies. The ultimate goal is to promote sustainable agriculture, environmentally and human-health-friendly food production, circular economy, and the reduction of food waste, following the "One Health" approach.
NECTAR addresses various industrial, economic, and social challenges. It tackles the lack of transparency in nutritional information and the presence of unhealthy ingredients in food products. It also aims to combat the global obesity epidemic by promoting balanced and healthy eating. Furthermore, NECTAR aims to address social issues by offering affordable access to nutritious and sustainable food.
In conclusion, NECTAR is an innovative proposal that combines emerging technologies like the metaverse, metabolic avatars, blockchain, and NFTs to create a platform dedicated to agrifood, promoting sustainability and transparency in the industry. Despite not being realized yet, presenting this project to the public can generate interest, engagement, and potential collaborations while evaluating market demand.

Circular Farm la fattoria urbana circolare

Circular Farm is an urban farm, inspired by the circularity of nature.
In our circular agricultural process we produce Oyster mushrooms reusing the coffee grounds from the bars and other product like medical mushrooms, micro-vegetable, flours, eggs, worm humus and compost.
Our process is innovative, because we use a vertical systems of cultivation in the shipping containers, out of land.
In addition to the production of mushrooms, our company produces micro-vegetables and vegetables from hydroponic cultivation systems (aquaponic system) and with a synergic garden.
From the mushrooms substrate, we make a compost pile and thanks of the aerobic fermentation we produce hot water that we use in winter time for heating our greenhouse.
In our Circular Farm space we organize educational tour for schoosl, experience, workshops and training for the people that want to replicate our circular system.
ROVRDUINO

ROVRDUINO is a small rover platform powered by an ATmega328 microcontroller. Much like the Arduino UNO, the ROVRDUINO has a "REV3" style footprint with the same headers capable of using existing Arduino shields and modules. This little robot features a variety of onboard sensors and can be programmed using the Arduino IDE. Because ROVRDUINO is intended to be a DIY kit, it can be easily soldered and assembled in just a single afternoon. While the ROVRDUINO doesn't require any advanced knowledge of electronics or microcontrollers, it can be modded and upgraded with all kinds of innovative ideas.
SPOCH – Smart Protection of Cultural Heritage
