Cartalana, Gioielli che Raccontano

Entirely handmade from recycled and precious paper, Cartalana jewellery is characterised by an essential, geometric design; finished with natural stones and metals. Each gesture leading to the creation of a paper-jewel is both tribute and inspiration to Nature, which never discards anything, but reuses itself to regenerate. These are not mere jewels but little artist's books to wear: each one tells a story inspired by art, myths, legends or the personal and childhood memories of Marcella Stilo, founder and artisan of the brand.

WoodyMaker

WoodyMaker produces objects that we have baptized original, special, beautiful "things" to give on different occasions, something that remains, can be worn or exhibited, capable of communicating data, messages and emotions.
The project is based on the creativity of a craftsman who works wood with new generation tools such as lasercut to produce "things" engraved with a "code" that communicates with a software platform created to give the customer the possibility to customize that "thing" and communicate something to third parties.
We went further… creating “things” that contain electronic boards and sensors able to communicate with the surrounding environment!
Our project aims to demonstrate how creativity and old crafts can merge with new technologies to create "things" that are pleasant to look at, made with natural materials, a new profession is born, the technological craftsman.
WoodyMaker aims to bring craftsmanship to the fore in a new form!
You will be able to see and touch surprising "things" at the fair that will be exhibited in preview, discover details and have all kinds of information, for the little ones we have created educational courses to learn the basic techniques for creating 2D/3D models.

The inspiration for the new collection comes from the influence
of the Mughals on culture, fashion and architecture in India.
Mughals and Indian Maharajas adorned themselves with extravagant, precious and elaborate and designed jewels.
This tradition continued in India even after that the Mughals were gone.
To make these magnificent creations, we work with small and medium sized artisans as they have generations of know-how behind their art.
This ensures that our shoes are handmade and that equal attention is paid to each of them.
We believe in keeping the art of footwear making alive in Italy for generations to come.

All products are packed in a good branded eco box. Each product is filled with the spirit of the era of steam engines and elements of science fiction. Back to Maker Faire Rome, the extraordinary space dedicated entirely to artisans, manufacturing processes, and the digital revolution! Following the success of 2018 and 2019, Medaarch - in collaboration with WASP and Lab Mec - by popular demand, reintroduces the Center for Digital Craftsmanship for the 2023 edition of Maker Faire Rome. A 145 m² space designed as a public lounge where live demonstrations showcase how the connection between Italian craftsmanship, experimentation, and digital technology is contributing to the revival of Made in Italy, the enhancement of talents, the regeneration of territories, and the creation of an innovation ecosystem.
This space is dedicated to the new Renaissance, where one can admire high-impact and commercially successful design solutions achieved through a skillful combination of traditional processes and the use of new digital technologies.
The project's protagonists are the new artisan workshops: innovative and competitive enterprises operating in the excellence sectors of Made in Italy, such as fashion, ceramics, wood, and glass. These enterprises will guide us on a special journey into the new era of expertise, where creativity and technological innovation merge to generate large-scale innovations.
So, mark your calendars from October 20th to 22nd at Fiera Roma in the Life Pavilion. Over the three days, eight enterprises will demonstrate their processes and the ways they have chosen to use new digital tools, showing how technological solutions can already find fertile ground in Italian production chains, creating strong opportunities for manufacturing and Made in Italy talent.
There will be a chance to experience the most interesting virtual reality applications for craftsmanship, presented by Sautech, Medaarch, and Enco with the Artista project. You'll encounter the history and art of master Giuseppe Cicalese, who will create ceramic and sculptural works through live demonstrations involving 3D printing and virtual reality. You'll meet the talent of designer Marianna Capuano, who will showcase Tiffany glass works created with digital fabrication support.
You can admire wooden design pieces by master Luca Colacicco, created through digital manufacturing and designed by Medaarch. You'll witness the creation of fashion products by designer Giulia Scalera, expertly combining 3D printing processes and art couture.
Furthermore, you can discover how 3D printing can be applied to sustainable design, admiring 3D-printed ceramic objects and green furnishings from the Mediterranea collection by Medaarch.
Last but not least, Medaarch has dedicated space to professional training opportunities for students, startups, companies, and makers looking to grow through digital innovation and hands-on training based on experimentation, research, and digital innovation.
In summary, it's an immersive experience to explore the beauty and charm of Made in Italy 5.0 talent, complemented by the integration of digital technologies through which the involved companies have found a unique and innovative way to engage.
The space at Maker Faire Rome, created by Medaarch in collaboration with WASP and Lab Mac - who have provided their cutting-edge technologies for the three days (particularly, WASP brings the 40100 Clay Production and the 3MT HDP) - reproduces the structure of the Center for Digital Craftsmanship in Cava de' Tirreni, the first in Italy entirely dedicated to revitalizing Made in Italy through the digital transformation of businesses and artisans.

Deentra's goal is to contribute to the decarbonization of 2000+ companies by 2030.

ACTA

ACTA is an Eco-sustainable Collection, inspired by Etruscan history, in a contemporary and genderless vision. This collection is made with the use of eco-sustainable, recycled and stock fabrics and t is also embellished with traditional hand embroideries and uses a technological processing through 3D printing. ACTA differs in inclusiveness: it abolishes the difference in size, and looks with care and attensions towards genres: genderfluid, manwear, womanwear. All garments are made to measure and in limited editions. CLO3D, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Printing take place in each phases of the creative process.

PicoFlutter – Wearable for Learning Electronics

This educational tool is RP2040-powered and includes multiple programmable LEDs, as well as a Qwiic connector for adding sensors. The device serves as a tool to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications, fostering innovative thinking and cultivating an interest in STEAM fields.

Costume Di Scena Automatico per Danzatori e Artisti

A costume with integrated LEDs that light up and change color based on its position: this is the core of a project designed specifically to provide performers with an innovative tool.
The costume detects the position, and every movement gently modifies the shades, colors, and light intensity. This dynamic response is governed by specific programmable rules.
The scenic effect is extraordinary, both during rapid movements and slow movements, eliciting wonder from the audience about the connection between movement and the device's response
PC Fisso Portatile – Portable Desktop

Our project consists in changing the common use of a desktop, allowing you to carry it wherever you want with the comfort of a simple backpack.
It consists precisely in mounting the hardware on a wooden fiber structure which in turn fits into a specially modified backpack to allow the use of peripherals, an integrated display with stereo sound system and which guarantees adequate cooling. In addition, thanks to a battery we were able to guarantee a desktop computer an autonomy and much greater than a laptop, of 50 hours.
Opening Technologies for Smart Communities

WeMake, fablab and makerspace in Milan, presents projects developed with different technologies and different impacts but share the same goal: to provide communities with tools and knowledge useful for the development of digital objects and services for the common good.
Specifically, WeMake was involved in research and development in the IoT projects:
- in the agricultural sector we have developed modules to save water and other resources;
- in the civil field we tested a monitoring system of a distributed network through LoRa modules;
- in the social field we have developed a wearable that helps connecting people in real life through simple non verbal communication defined by personal preferences and activities.
At Maker Faire 2023 WeMake will present three physical prototypes.
REACT – Heartbeat dynamic monitor

VO2 is a commonly used index to notify users of their fitness level, which, when measured with wearable devices, can, however, provide inaccurate assessments due to the low quantity and quality of recorded data.
To overcome this problem, we have developed REACT, a biosignal processing method based on artificial intelligence algorithms, to characterize heart rate dynamics in real time while providing a personalized tool to support training and cardiovascular risk reduction.
Invaerso: design & innovazione, artigianalità e upcycling.

Invaerso was born from a project by the Roman designer Maria Clelia Scuteri, who with this brand wants to tell her own design vision in the approach to design. The creative process, when free to express itself outside any conventional scheme, becomes an infinite flow of ideas, capable of making anything possible. The jewel is a pretext: the aspiration is to create Designs to wear; something that has the ability to leave its mark, that is beautiful to look at and unique to "experience", but at the same time that knows how to tell a story, and has its own compositional, formal, material and conceptual identity. It doesn't matter if fluid or straight lines, soft or rigid; it is the design approach that aims at a continuous and incessant research towards an evolutionary goal made up of experiments without "rules" understood as preconceptions.
"The only goal to strive for is the creation of something unexpected and unique, outside of what we consider ordinary".
How? Through the creation of a unique and complex supply chain , the result of a strong creative sensitivity capable of subverting traditional rules combined with the use of different production techniques set up in a system that is always different (including: traditional metal casting, 3d printing technology , upcycling of industrial materials, lost wax, the craftsmanship of filigree).
Bodynodes

Bodynodes is a motion capture project made by a hobbyist for other hobbyists. Sensors can be worn and track the movement of the body. Then, the information can be used for different types of applications.
The most typical application is to control a character in a virtual reality game. Bodynodes makes the game more immersive than other systems because the sensors are worn and the player interacts directly with the new world. With the use of a VR headset or a VR cardboard, the player gets a fully immersive experience in the game.
The tracking information can also be used to create animations for videos or new games. Instead of going through days of animations, the animator can just track their own body and then work on the data collected using the Bodynodes sensors.
In the future, we will explore controlling drones and robots, transitioning from the virtual world to controlling the real world!
Dotzero

Once a Dotzero shoe reaches the end of its lifecycle, customers can return it to the company through a take-back and recycling program. The shoes are then disassembled, and the materials are recovered and reintegrated into the production process, minimizing waste and promoting a circular economy.
Dotzero also commits to using cutting-edge technologies, such as blockchain, to ensure the traceability and certification of its productions. Through the use of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), each pair of Dotzero sneakers is registered on a public blockchain, providing consumers with the assurance of authenticity and the sustainable origin of the materials used.
Dotzero serves as a benchmark for the sustainable footwear industry, demonstrating that it is possible to combine style, quality, and environmental respect. With their innovation and commitment, Dotzero is redefining the concept of sneakers, paving the way for a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.
