The sustainability through the student Teams of the Politecnico of Turin

The Politecnico di Torino presents the most important students Teams involved in sustainability, ecological aspect, low consumption, mobility, recycle, reducing environmental impact and promoting circular economy.
The Politecnico of Torino involves the students in Teams with a mission: “learning by doing” with the goal to grow up a new generation of engineers able to accept challenges and solve problems.
The main goal of the teams is a practical training of the future engineer: to design means to compromise between an idea and what is actually buildable.
The Politecnico would like to present 10 teams that from 15 years make innovation participating to international competitions and events.
The Politecnico would like to have a big space to expose theire prototype; cars, bicycle, motorcycle, boats, mobile robot, scaled airplane, recycling computer and more other.

Deentra developed an innovative business model that allows people to purchase a photovoltaic panel and install it on a company's roof, enabling anyone to produce sustainable energy regardless of where they live. Thanks to the solution companies can benefit from the energy produced at a competitive rate without any upfront investment, while the owners of the photovoltaic panels are remunerated for the energy produced. Deentra's goal is to contribute to the decarbonization of 2000+ companies by 2030.
Bombeer srl

Bombeer is a bottom-fermented lager beer, born from the careful selection of the finest varieties of barley, hops and yeast, produced by Birra Castello Spa.
The particular fermentation process gives it a harmonious, soft and enveloping taste.
The slim body and subtle carbonation play in balance, closing with a clean finish that invites a second sip.
Due to its characteristics it is suitable as an aperitif beer and for consumption throughout the meal, even better if in front of a match on TV.

The inspiration for the new collection comes from the influence
of the Mughals on culture, fashion and architecture in India.
Mughals and Indian Maharajas adorned themselves with extravagant, precious and elaborate and designed jewels.
This tradition continued in India even after that the Mughals were gone.
To make these magnificent creations, we work with small and medium sized artisans as they have generations of know-how behind their art.
This ensures that our shoes are handmade and that equal attention is paid to each of them.
We believe in keeping the art of footwear making alive in Italy for generations to come.
PICUS

The restorer has the fundamental task of envisioning the objectives and selecting the appropriate methods of investigation, identifying the areas to be investigated, presiding over the interventions, and finally summarizing the results. The PICUS Project was born as a result of the perceived need of a large number of specialists in the field of preservation to obtain a simple, effective and low-cost aid to the process of diagnosing the state of preservation of properties, particularly those considered "minor" that have always had little attention mostly due to the inadequacy of available funds.
USE OF AI FOR THE MAPPING OF AGRI-ENVIRONMENTAL XENBIOTIC CONTAMINATION USING TERRITORIAL MICRO-SAMPLING CARRIED OUT BY BEES

Bees play a fundamental role in ecosystems and are present throughout the territory (at our latitude).
The bee carries out its collection and pollination activity in a radius ranging between 2 and 10 km, and is attracted only by plants and clean water, avoiding contact with any waste and/or waste material.
Every day, on average, a worker bee visits up to 7,000 flowers, fulfilling its very important role for the ecosystem.
Any xenobiotic contamination present in the materials collected by bees and derived products are representative of the contamination of the flora and surface waters of the area where the hive is located.
Fosan is starting the creation of a mapping of sentinel hives located throughout the country, in order to monitor the conditions of environmental risk from xenobiotic contamination.
The analytical data referring to the samples taken in the various "sentinel hives" are processed with AI techniques to identify level curves of xenobiotic contamination and related hotspots, and the presumed connections with human activities. With AI, the presumed correlations between the recorded anthropic activities and the levels of contamination of the hive products are identified.

ACTA

ACTA is an Eco-sustainable Collection, inspired by Etruscan history, in a contemporary and genderless vision. This collection is made with the use of eco-sustainable, recycled and stock fabrics and t is also embellished with traditional hand embroideries and uses a technological processing through 3D printing. ACTA differs in inclusiveness: it abolishes the difference in size, and looks with care and attensions towards genres: genderfluid, manwear, womanwear. All garments are made to measure and in limited editions. CLO3D, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Printing take place in each phases of the creative process.
ReMade Community Lab_from waste to resource

A social promotion association that aims to spread ecological thinking and digital culture. The intent is to generate micro-production activities starting from urban plastic waste using low-complexity recycling techniques and production through digital fabrication. ReMade products are conceived starting from the selection and reinterpretation of the signs of the territory and through co-design processes, to contribute to the construction of new positive identities and to the activation of relationships in the proximity system of the Sanità district of Naples.
Cartalana, Gioielli che Raccontano

Entirely handmade from recycled and precious paper, Cartalana jewellery is characterised by an essential, geometric design; finished with natural stones and metals. Each gesture leading to the creation of a paper-jewel is both tribute and inspiration to Nature, which never discards anything, but reuses itself to regenerate. These are not mere jewels but little artist's books to wear: each one tells a story inspired by art, myths, legends or the personal and childhood memories of Marcella Stilo, founder and artisan of the brand.
ABACHOS – AUTOMATIC BACK HOME SYSTEM – ALIANTE IN GRADO DI RIENTRARE AUTONOMAMENTE DALLA STRATOSFERA

I primi esperimenti sono stati svolti nel 2014, da allora numerosi sono stati i lanci, molte le lezioni e le attività . Nel 2022, abbiamo vinto una competizione dell'ESA (Agenzia Spaziale Europea),. Questa vittoria ci ha finanziato un lancio dallo Swedish Space Center (SSC) di Kiruna, in collaborazione con ASI e INGV. C-Eyes

Through the use of artificial intelligence and computer vision, C-Eyes captures real-time images and converts them into detailed audio descriptions, essentially enabling users to 'see' through hearing. Our device comes in two models. The 'Pro' model integrates a personal AI assistant powered by OpenAI GPT-4, providing advanced functionality and interactive voice recognition. The 'Lite' model, an economical and lightweight alternative, focuses on core functions of scene recognition and audio synthesis. Both models serve our mission to enhance independence, safety, and quality of life for visually impaired individuals. C-Eyes demonstrates the transformative potential of AI technology in tackling societal challenges and promoting inclusivity.

Circle Fermenter – Feeding communities

Circle fits into the free and self-powered cycle of the fermentation community with the desire not only to delight its palate, but to increase its exchanges and visions.
This sanctions a true symbiosis: the community needs Circle for its preparations, Circle needs the community to develop and expand its horizons.
A fermenter that emphasizes the feeling of sharing that food often gives. The nature of such a simple food transformation reflects the open source character of the project, which is designed for digital manufacturing.
ITS-SCAN

We have created an app that from the information saved on an online sheet creates a unique QR-Code. With a simple scan we can connect to the digital element provided by the designer, record date-time of arrival at the construction site, indicate the mounting status and transfer this information back into the BIM model. All through functions and free applications that are already in our smartphone
Opening Technologies for Smart Communities

WeMake, fablab and makerspace in Milan, presents projects developed with different technologies and different impacts but share the same goal: to provide communities with tools and knowledge useful for the development of digital objects and services for the common good.
Specifically, WeMake was involved in research and development in the IoT projects:
- in the agricultural sector we have developed modules to save water and other resources;
- in the civil field we tested a monitoring system of a distributed network through LoRa modules;
- in the social field we have developed a wearable that helps connecting people in real life through simple non verbal communication defined by personal preferences and activities.
At Maker Faire 2023 WeMake will present three physical prototypes.
Brailly

We introduce Brailly, an interactive cube made for visually impaired people of every age, who would like to learn Braille in a fun way.
Brailly is a 3D printed cube that consists of a speaker with an audio guide for learning simple words and letters in Braille. Learning Braille happens through a set of individual or collaborative exercises. Users can learn how to “write” in Braille by clicking on buttons, which imitate the Braille alphabet. Learning how to “read” the letters happens through haptic dowels.
Our first prototype consists of 3D-printed inside parts made from PLA and an outside shell made from TPU95 material which makes the cube safe for kids. Other important components are six buttons allowing for Braille input and six servo motors which are responsible for the Braille output.
During Makers faire we would also like to present our new prototype which has significant improvements such as different motors, smaller size, better sound and quality.
Invaerso: design & innovazione, artigianalità e upcycling.

Invaerso was born from a project by the Roman designer Maria Clelia Scuteri, who with this brand wants to tell her own design vision in the approach to design. The creative process, when free to express itself outside any conventional scheme, becomes an infinite flow of ideas, capable of making anything possible. The jewel is a pretext: the aspiration is to create Designs to wear; something that has the ability to leave its mark, that is beautiful to look at and unique to "experience", but at the same time that knows how to tell a story, and has its own compositional, formal, material and conceptual identity. It doesn't matter if fluid or straight lines, soft or rigid; it is the design approach that aims at a continuous and incessant research towards an evolutionary goal made up of experiments without "rules" understood as preconceptions.
"The only goal to strive for is the creation of something unexpected and unique, outside of what we consider ordinary".
How? Through the creation of a unique and complex supply chain , the result of a strong creative sensitivity capable of subverting traditional rules combined with the use of different production techniques set up in a system that is always different (including: traditional metal casting, 3d printing technology , upcycling of industrial materials, lost wax, the craftsmanship of filigree).
