UniTS Racing Team

UniTS Racing Team is the Formula SAE Team of University of Trieste. Our main goal is to design and build an electric prototype to partecipate in the Formula SAE series. Our team is made up of 70 students coming from different departments ranging from engineering to economics, who cooperate to design a fully electric vehicle. The project was funded and is managed entirely by students. We are all passionate about motorsports and we want to measure ourselves with the design and production of a racing car. The key elements that can turn our project into a successful one are the dedication and willpower of our team members. Together with the crucial help of our sponsors, we will be able to build the prototype. Our ultimate goal is to create new communication channels to engage with the industry.

ANTIBACTERIAL TABLEWARE

The "Antibacterial Plate" project stems from an important Research & Development phase that the company has already undertaken since 2020 during the pandemic. We wondered what could be needed in such a moment and what it could cope with in a market like ours to a pandemic but also to an improvement of catering and private environments.This is how the research and first prototyping phase of this project began, which saw the filing of a patent for a particular object which, due to its particularity, can reject up to 99% of the bacteria that deposit on it can be bacteria of various types and by imagining the various "passages" of dishes, for example in a restaurant or self-service restaurant or naval restaurant halls, we hypothesized that these objects could have an enormous plus compared to other identical but not antibacterial objects.We have therefore arrived at the laboratory certification of products both in single color and with antibacterial decorations and decals with a characteristic that resists the microwave oven and dishwasher for the entire life of the product without ever failing up to at its breakup. This product is extremely innovative as it can be used in many areas, both private and public, to increase hygiene and above all to counteract the spread of bacteria in the kitchen and in refreshment areas without considering that being reusable after washing it is also highly environmental impact and reduces the use of "single portions" which are extremely polluting today.

The LAGOrà project aims to make students passionate about science and technology starting from problems close to them and making them active protagonists of the monitoring process. In fact, the boys built instruments (control units for detecting atmospheric pollutants, pH meters, phreatimeters, handcrafted microscopes) to evaluate the state of health of Massaciuccoli Lake, and contributed to producing solutions and fundamental data for setting up campaigns of environmental remediation aimed at raising awareness among citizens and institutions, establishing a vicious circle of collaboration, citizen science and good practices.

ECO GoKart (IA) Tecology is based on the culture of recycling and eco-sustainability, thanks to the technology of brushless motors electrically powered by lithium ion batteries, recycled from old computers, we have gone from the combustion engine to a very clean electric motor , with the help of Upgrade IA the kart is equipped with a helmet through a road sign recognition system which with artificial intelligence (AI) allows the system to recognize and interpret the road signs present along the traffic routes and transmit this information to the rider to help him steer.

Sedia a rotelle elettrica per tetraplegici

In the 2022-2023 school year, the students of class IV and V of the Electronic Robotics specialization allowed tetraplegic people, i.e., person with inability to voluntarily move the upper and lower parts of the body, to move independently and using the residual mobility of the head. An Arduino NANO 33 BLE and an inertial sensor present on board allow to intercept the movements of the head and, through the Bluetooth module, the information of the head movements is delivered to a self-built Master board and subsequently, through the DAC, the voltages are created to run the engines. Moreover, a set of sensors on the perimeter of the wheelchair avoids obstacles and a LIDAR sensor helps reconstruct the surrounding environment.

The system consists of a network of wireless IoT sensors in the shape of a sunflower equipped with a photovoltaic panel and internal battery. These devices are configured to monitor specific applications, and the collected data is transmitted to our completely Italian cloud system, where it is processed by artificial intelligence algorithms to make visible predictions on the Sunflower App. For example, the application supports farmers in reducing water waste for irrigation, reducing fertilizers and treatments, and improving productivity.

Sandy is an autonomous, inexpensive, and sustainable rover capable of cleaning beach sand of the most superficial litter. The project aims to put robotics at the service of the environment and wants to find a fast and inexpensive solution to clean the coast while preserving the local ecosystem and at the same time providing environmental data. The rover moves autonomously on the beach avoiding obstacles, picking up sand and trash that it encounters. The sand is filtered and pebbles and shells are separated from the trash by artificial intelligence algorithms.

The MONIOLITECH project - Hi-tech monitoring for the sustainable management of the olive grove ecosystem in Lazio aims to address and solve the problem of manual monitoring of the parameters necessary for the implementation of correct and sustainable cultivation practices through the implementation of a technical assistance system for olive growers, based on ICT technologies and capable of informing and guiding farms in the main cultivation practices. It will be an easily accessible (user-friendly) web-based service where each olive grower will find the spatialized information needed to carry out irrigation and defence of the olive tree in a sustainable manner and in relation to the spatio-temporal location of the olive trees, according to the logic of precision agriculture. The support activity for this pilot project is financed by sub-measure 16.2.1 of the RDP Lazio 2014-2020 within the framework of Regulation (EU) No 1305/2013 and subsequent amendments and integrations.
