IL BR is a simple wearable device that allows you to control your PC and beyond by simply moving a hand. The device recognizes the acceleration produced by movement and compares it with user-selected and fully customizable "trigger" values, so as to simulate pressing a key on the keyboard, to control various aspects of your PC, to scroll through a presentation smoothly and much more. Thanks to the Internet connection, the BR can connect to very distant devices (such as drones, radio-controlled cars and much more) and control them remotely thanks to the acceleration produced by the user. The presence of a rechargeable battery allows uninterrupted use for over 4 hours. The case like the strap are totally 3D printed so as to be light and suitable for any user. The BR is supported by a PC interface that allows you to fully customize any aspect of the device. Like “trigger” accelerations, simulated keystrokes and much more. Furthermore, once the interface is closed after connecting the device, the BR will continue to work in the background allowing for simple and fluid use.

Such objects such as bottle stoppers, small bowls, honey dippers and others will be crafted.

Smart Garden using Seeed Studio WIO Terminal

It is a workshop sponsored by Seeed Studio for the educational community, and delivered by POWAR, in which we will show teachers the capabilities of the WIO Terminal, an IoT device designed by Seeed Studio, to carry out projects related to environmental sciences and the internet of things. The WIO terminal has a light sensor, accelerometer, microphone, buzzer and screen integrated into the device, in addition to the possibility of connecting to WiFi and LoRa network. On top of that, Seeed Studio's WIO terminal works with sensors and actuators that don't need complicated connections or advanced electronics skills, making them perfect for learning as you just need to plug them in and load the code to start using them. In the workshop we will first teach teachers how to use and program some of these sensors, and then we will teach them to integrate them to create an intelligent plant monitoring system that can give us information such as ambient temperature, amount of light, relative humidity and soil moisture, and also warn us when the plant needs to be watered. We will also have some other sensors of different types for teachers to try during the workshop if they want.

Many of the materials I use are discarded or used and I find repurposing shapes and objects into new uses to be great fun for me and to viewers. Persistent ideas that I work with are histories of objects and continuance of space through representations of separation and the impermanence of things. I especially like the challenges and new ideas that unknown flaws of used or recycled parts bring to the work, as these require creative solutions that only seem to come up when I think I have failed.
